
Organizational Culture Profile | Saint Brigid’s Home.

This study was conducted in the wake of the changes orchestrated by the coming into force of Bill 10 in 2015 with the CHSLD Saint Brigid’s Home, which is responsible for providing care to an English-speaking population in the Quebec City region.This study focuses on the organizational culture of Saint Brigid’s Home. In addition to identifying distinctive elements to describe the culture of this institution, the study seeks to account for the contribution of the English-speaking community to its functioning, as well as to target recommendations useful for the preservation of the identified cultural elements. In order to carry out this exploratory qualitative study, the author conducted organizational visits, document analyses and interviews with managers. Seven recommendations were formulated: reiterate a holistic vision of the person; revise the division of services; base the staffing and evaluation process on values deemed key in the organization and follow up on them; mentor new managers and stakeholders by more experienced colleagues; adopt practices to reduce hierarchical distance; work on staff retention; role of the English-speaking community and partners.
